Orientation in Memphis

As a new member of the ACBL’s Board of Directors, I was part of a 2 day orientation held at the ACBL’s headquarters in Memphis. Joining me were Sharon Fairchild, the ACBL President for 2007 and Rand Pinsky, the new District Director for District 23 (Los Angeles County). Although my service as Chairman of the Board of Governors gave me great exposure to the “inner workings” of the league, I still learned many new things during the orientation.

One aspect that continually impressed the three of us was the dedication and longevity of the employees at the ACBL HQ. We met several who had worked there ever since the move from Greenwich, CT over 30 years ago and many who had been employees for over 15 & 20 years. The attitude of the employees was upbeat, with a great desire to serve the membership of the league. As I found out first hand while unit president, the staff in Memphis is there to solve your problems and make things possible for you. Don’t hesitate to call on them at any time.
